Dee Dee Becker offers a wealth of marketing, communications and PR experience which began in the non-profit sector more than twenty years ago with the American Diabetes Association and later, with Sentara Healthcare, a Virginia-based health system. In 1998, she founded Becker Communications and worked with numerous clients within the non-profit, entertainment, transportation, education, legal and medical sectors, including The New York Times Company, Virginia Port Authority, and ESPN.
Dee Dee is experienced in planning and managing major corporate communications and PR initiatives, ranging from mergers and acquisitions to program and service line publicity to crisis management related issues. She has expertise in communications planning, writing and management across multiple platforms including traditional, web and social media. Her strengths include informing and engaging key stakeholders such as employees, physicians, boards of directors, the media, general public and municipal governments.
A graduate of the University of Mary Washington and member of the Public Relations Society of America, Dee Dee also enjoys freelance writing and has published feature stories in many national, regional and local magazines. In 2004, she was nominated for a Virginia Press Association award for a three-part series on adoption, published in Tidewater Parent magazine.
